Final Print

SELF EVALUATION

1.     Describe the overall composition of your artwork (balance, unity, rhythm and movement).
The overall composition of my artwork I think was well balanced with a good variety of texture. The unity was good because the colors blended well together, and the rhythm and movement in it brought the image to life. Since I added texture to the different objects in my artwork it created more moavement through out the piece.
2.     How did you add texture and contrast to your print? Is this important? Why?
I created texture by over exaggerating lines and creases in the objects in my piece. I usesd contrast between the colors I chose. I put the turqoise against a lighter color such as pink to really make my animal pop out. This was important to show life to my print and to really show what my animal was and where it was.
3.     Explain how you used positive and negative space to show your image.
I used positive space with the turqoise and negative space with the pint. I used more positive space because the positive space made objects in my print really pop. The negative space I mainly used to show texture through out my piece. I believe that since I put less negative space in my print it made the texture pop out as well as the positve space.
4.     Describe the craftsmanship of your print. (How good the project is technically crafted)
It took me a while to plan out my print technically. I spent a while designing the animal and then trying to create the perfect back ground that would go along with my animal. Then I had to plan out the positive and the negative space which took an even longer time to plan out. Then from there on the rest of my project was pretty simple.
5.     Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain.
I achieve depth by showing the different sizes and shapes of objects in the foreground, middle gound, and background. I put my animal in the foreground and to show that I made my animal the largest. Then the water was the middle ground because the flamingo was standing in it. Then the grass in the background was shown by making it smaller with less noticeable texture. This created depth because it showed that my flamingo was in front with the rest of it's environment in the back.
6.     Explain your experience with Printmaking. What were the obstacles and advantages?
My experience with Printmaking was not the best in the world. I had to overcome many challanges during this project. Such as creating such small texture in the background with the cutting utensiles. Also having to plan out the positive and negative space in my print. Yet some advantages I had in this project was drawing my animal with texture because I am pretty good at showing the texture in objects.

Chalk Mural

Chalk Mural Critique

Self evaluation (must write at least 3 sentences for each question)

1. Explain your experience working on a team and executing your ideas for the mural.
I enjoyed working on a team with everybody and drawing our mural to make it interactive. It was a good experience, and I think we executed our idea pretty well. It came out nice, and I think it looked pretty similiar to what we had planned on making it look like. The overall mural looked almost exactly like our sketch if not better.
2. Explain the importance of collaboration when working on a team.
Collaboration is very important when working with a team. My team collaborated very well together. We all agreed on the same things and approved everyones choices when drawing. We all worked together very well, and we tried to put everyones input in our drawing.
3.  How successful was this project? Explain how and why.
I think this project was very successful because of the way it turned out in the end. We all worked very good together, and we agreed on all the decisions we made when we made this mural. I think that it came out very life like, and it looks like you could interact with it.
4. Explain how you feel about creating artwork that others can interact with. Ex. Involving the whole school?
I like the fact that we created artwork that others can interact with. I think it was a ver cool idea, and our school will enjoy taking pitctures with the art. Our artwork will make other students laugh as they try and pose with a wall. Im glad I had this opportunity to create this wall mural.

Print Making Sketch

Print Sketch Critique

1. Why is texture so important to have in your sketches?
Texture was very important in my sketch because it made my animal pop and come to life. Texture shows all the little details in an object, or in this case an animal, and lets someone really see how that object would feel or appear. Since I added texture into my animal and background it made the whole drawing look more realistic.

2. Why is it neccessary for you to have several references of each animal and each background? Explain.
It was necessary to have several references for my animal and the background because it helped me get all the little details into my drawing. It also helped me look at my animal from several angles so I could see the texture exactly the way it is. The beackground photos helped me create a perfect landscape for my animal, so it could have the perfect environment with all of its necessities in the drawing.
3. When you look at your sketches are you able to see which sketch is the strongest and will make the best print? How do you know this?
When I look at my sketches I am unable to tell which one would made the best print. This is because I worked really hard on all my sketches, so they all look really nice and well drawn. I tried to make all my sketches life like with a bunch of texture, and for the most part I think I succeeded.
